Developments

Information regarding new developments proposed for the Tuscany community.

Is it 1 or 2 lanes wide? The long standing debate is settled.

Recent traffic incidents have brought back the long standing debate in Tuscany about whether our roadways are 1 or 2 lanes wide.  Although many of you have had some great conversations on our local social media and other venues, it is time to get the official word. Our Calgary Policy Community Resource officer visited the TCA to bring attention to this topic following recent traffic incidents. The final word – Unless there are clear road markings that the road is 2 lanes, all unmarked roads are 1 lane only.  Yes, the single lane roads are wide in sections but they remain 1 lane roads with room to park on the side. For example, Tuscany Way NW heading north from Eric Harvie School is a 1 lane road the entire way until there are clear road markings just before 12 Mile Coulee Rd designating a change to a 2 lane road.  There have […]

North Calgary Water Servicing Project – Tuscany Impact

Updated November 20, 2025. The TCA has been able to connect with the communications team for the North Calgary Water Servicing Project and they have put together some Tuscany specific information for our community to answer general resident questions about the portions of this project that will be around Tuscany.  We will update the TCA website and Facebook page when additional updates or construction notices are received.  This will be a multi year project so timelines are subject to change due to various construction factors and, of course, the weather.  The first set of information is related to Tuscany specifically and the general project information announced in October follows.  Please use the city website as your main source of current and detailed information about this project at Calgary.ca/NorthCalgaryWaterServicing. This updated project map includes general timeframes for the various sections of work.   Overview of Upcoming Work in Tuscany – North […]

Tuscany Elementary School – Naming Survey

A School Naming Committee comprised of six Tuscany community representatives, Calgary Board of Education trustees and administration was convened to bring a recommendation for the name of the new elementary school being built in Tuscany to the Board of Trustees. The committee would like your input for naming this new school. The committee will only consider names that follow the Board of Trustees’ Guiding Principles (see survey). Please complete this survey prior to June 8, 2015. It is important to note that this is not a vote, but rather an opportunity for input. Learn more and submit your naming suggestions http://www.cbe.ab.ca/schools/building-and-modernizing-schools/Pages/tuscany-school.aspx

Outdoor Fitness Area Update

Tuscany is a growing community of almost 20,000 residents. As the community nears completion, it is crucial that amenities be designed to attract & engage residents at every stage of life.  To date, Tuscany offers an abundance of facilities geared to preschoolers and younger children.  Aside from self-guided activities in Twelve Mile Coulee, however, there is nothing available for our youth and young adults. The Tuscany Community Association’s motto is: Growing a Safe, Healthy and Enjoyable Community. We are also members of Communities ChooseWell, an Alberta Recreation & Parks Association initiative. We believe in & support healthy eating, active living, and social well-being. We are working with the TMC Parent Association, the CBE, and the City of Calgary to build an Outdoor Fitness Area on public land located adjacent to the school grounds.  This amenity will provide Tuscany youth a safe, free, community-based site for recreation & gathering, as well […]

Tuscany LRT Station Q & A

The Tuscany Community Association is working with local residents to adjust to the new demands for parking that have arisen with the recent opening of the Tuscany LRT Station. Based on some of the questions we have received so far, we have compiled a list of common questions (and answers) for residents that may be wondering about parking issues near the LRT.

Twelve Mile Coulee School Fitness Area

TWELVE MILE COULEE SCHOOL OUTDOOR FITNESS AREA Twelve Mile Coulee School opened in September, 2012, and this new middle school currently has a population of 850 students Grades 4 – 9, with a capacity of 900.  Although there are parks and playgrounds in the neighborhood, they are neither accessible during the school hours for students, nor were they designed with middle school aged children in mind.  We are collaborating with the Calgary Board of Education, and the City of Calgary, to build this outdoor fitness area on joint use land on the school grounds. We have received tremendous support from Tuscany School Council and Tuscany Community Association for this project.  Aside from offering an extension to the Physical Education program at TMC School, the outdoor fitness area will provide a reprieve from the children’s studies, a place to play and expend some energy during their breaks, as well as an […]

Update on Proposed Rogers Cell Tower in Tuscany 1

In the spring of 2012, the Tuscany Community Association received notice that Rogers Wireless was planning to erect a cellular tower on the east side of 12 Mile Coulee Park, near Villa d’Este (click here for details). The plan created a bit of a stir with some residents, and on April 26, 2012, Rogers Wireless arranged an open house at the Tuscany Club to engage with our residents. The TCA also solicited feedback from the community and sent responses to the proposal to Rogers and the City of Calgary (click here to see the responses). The TCA recently received notice from Rogers Wireless with a revised plan to construct a cellular tower in the community. The location and type/height of the tower have changed, to address some of the community’s concerns. The details of this plan that were provided to us by Rogers are provided below. The new location is further […]
