Update on Proposed Rogers Cell Tower in Tuscany 1

In the spring of 2012, the Tuscany Community Association received notice that Rogers Wireless was planning to erect a cellular tower on the east side of 12 Mile Coulee Park, near Villa d’Este (click here for details). The plan created a bit of a stir with some residents, and on April 26, 2012, Rogers Wireless arranged an open house at the Tuscany Club to engage with our residents. The TCA also solicited feedback from the community and sent responses to the proposal to Rogers and the City of Calgary (click here to see the responses). The TCA recently received notice from Rogers Wireless with a revised plan to construct a cellular tower in the community. The location and type/height of the tower have changed, to address some of the community’s concerns. The details of this plan that were provided to us by Rogers are provided below. The new location is further […]

Helping Our Neighbouring Communities and Victims of the Flood

The Tuscany Community Association met today with the President of the Bowness Community Association to ask how Tuscany residents can help at this point. The Bowness Community Association has a very organized crew, and the rebuilding is well underway. Most of their volunteers have now been redeployed to High River.  A few Tuscany residents have asked the Tuscany Community Association and the Tuscany Residents Association how they can help and whether we have organized anything to help victims of the flood. The community associations in Bowness and Tuscany do not have the ability to distribute donations of food and clothing, so as much as those intentions are appreciated, we encourage people to hold onto their items for another week or so, and then take them to NeighbourLink or the Calgary Drop-In Centre, where they will be efficiently distributed to people who are in need.  The best way people can help […]

New Development Under Consideration on Tuscany Way NW 3

Planning of a new development is in the works along the north stretch of Tuscany Way in our community. The planning is still early in the process, and the potential builder has applied for a land-use redesignation with the city to slightly increase residential density on the site before they proceed. Below you can find a copy of the conceptual site plan that the Community Association received, as well as our comment on the proposed land-use redesignation to the city of Calgary:

Emergency Preparedness in Calgary 1

What kinds of natural disasters can occur in Calgary? If you said “none”, you’d be mistaken. Many Calgarians think natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and tornadoes happen in other places. While we may not be subjected to huge superstorms like Sandy or Hurricane Katrina, we have our own potential problems.

Silver Springs Pool Renovation – Last chance to provide your support and feedback to the City of Calgary

The Silver Springs Community Association is working hard to save the public outdoor pool in their community (see a recent article that appeared in the Calgary Herald). A recent Pool Information Open House held in February was well attended and had residents from nearby communities in attendance. The proposed pool renovation has been postponed and The City of Calgary with the input of Silver Springs Community Association are looking at other renovation options. The Silver Springs Community Association and the City of Calgary will meet Friday, March 15 to discuss options for the potential renovation of the Silver Springs Outdoor Pool. The SSCA invites pool users from Silver Springs and other communities who have ideas about the structure of a potential renovation, potential fundraising options, or any other constructive ideas regarding the project to contact the SSCA via email prior to March 14. Please respond to ssca2@shaw.ca
