Tuscany Sun Editorial – February 10

What’s The Sense Worrying About Scents? Last month, one of our residents wrote in about the fact that scent from dryer vents can be found everywhere and that this was affecting the quality of the air he, and others, are breathing.  A number of residents responded positively but more weighed in that they are tired of hearing people complain, especially about something as ridiculously inane as bounce sheets.

Tuscany Club – Tree Down and Card Swiping 1

If you’ve ever wondered, as I have, why you have to swipe your TRA card every time you want to get into the Tuscany Club, here’s a bit of background from Chris, GM of the Tuscany Club. The two main reasons why we are now asked to use our card to access the Club are: The Club has been visited by the Police a few times and staff have been asked if they were able to account for who is in their building. This new swiping system allows for this type of accounting. The Club has pre-school programs running daily and, as part of keeping children safe, the new swiping system adds an important level of security for parents and program coordinators. This level of security also protects others who are attending programs or using the Club’s facilities. You may have noticed that there is a large tree down on Tuscany Way, just south […]

Open House – Thanks!

Thank you to the residents who helped to make our Open House on January 21st such a success. It was great talking to so many residents who are invested in our community and who would like to work with and within the TCA to continue to build and strengthen Tuscany. Key to the continued success of the TCA will be involvement from our community members. If you were unable to make it to the open house but would like to join the Board, feel free to send an email to our President for more information. Alternatively, if you do not want to take on an active Board position but would be interested in helping get various events off the ground, we would be happy to place you on our support list for contact in the future. TCA committees include Parks and Planning, Events and Recreation, Sports, Safety and Youth Development. Looking forward […]

TCA Open House Tonight! 2

Just wanted to send out a reminder to community members that the TCA is hosting an Open House tonight – Thursday, January 21st – at 7:30pm at the Tuscany Club. This is a great opportunity to meet the members of your TCA, find out about your Association and take the opportunity to meet other members of our community. Appetizers and drinks will be served.

Tuscany Community Garden – Interested?

A community meeting will be held on February 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tuscany Club to gauge interest in starting a Tuscany Community Garden. This meeting is open to anyone interested in the idea of starting a beautiful, welcoming gathering place in our community. Gardening experience is not required. What is a community garden: Community gardens come in many different shapes and sizes.  Gardeners can have their own individual plot within the community garden and can also join with others to grow some crops communally, sharing in the work and the harvest. Every community garden is unique and develops from what the gardeners decide.

Land Use Change In Tuscany – Your Thoughts 4

Issue There is a proposed land use change for 7 Tuscarora Crescent NW, which is currently a pre-school day home but is applying to become a Child Care Services Facility that will accommodate up to 35 children. To find out more about this, read Anne Burke’s City update on page 23 of January’s Tuscany Sun. Whether you support or object to this Land Use Change, you can attend the public meeting being held on January 18th at 9:30am at City Hall to voice your opinion on this matter. Support for the Change *Tuscany is in desperate need of daycare facilities *Care would be conveniently located within the community *This kind of facility would have to operate under provincial legislation and guidelines as pertaining to child care facilities Objections for the Change *site is a former grow-up *a parking study has not been done – how will cars for 35 children be accommodated without […]
